This article instructs you on adding or drawing an internal wall. There are two main methods to do this.
NOTE: If you want an interior or internal wall to have a door in, you have to draw an external wall inside the room as this is the only type of wall that will accept a door or window. This means using any wall icon that doesn't have Internal at the beginning of the name.
Method 1
In Build mode and either 2D or 3D view
Pick from the following tool functions:
![]() |
Places a wall parallel to and in front of a selected wall (this has to be selected immediately after selecting the tool). In the Internal wall at wall window (that automatically opens) the size, position and distance from floor can be adjusted. |
![]() |
Attaches to a selected wall at a 90 angle (the wall has to be selected immediately after selecting the tool). In the Partition walls window (that automatically opens) the position, size and angle can be adjusted. |
![]() |
Use appropriate snapping point, for more information see Commonly used snapping points. Put in required internal wall settings before drawing it. Click once where you want to start the wall, draw it out using the mouse then click again to finish drawing. This can be used to close a gap between two existing internal walls. |
|
Used for drawing more than one wall at a time, all connected, but don't have to be attached to an external wall. Left click where the first wall starts and drag the mouse to draw the wall, release the mouse button to end the wall and click again to draw the next wall. When you have completely finished click Finished on the View tab at the right-hand side of your screen. Note: as soon as you start drawing your first wall: a) you can change the snapping point if desired. These are found on the view tab on the right hand side of the screen. For more information see Commonly used snapping points b) the Internal wall settings window will automatically open. Here you can make adjustments to the wall settings, before you draw each wall. c) You can also add an arc or curve to a wall see article How to draw internal walls with a curve or arc. |
Note: if you do not see the internal walls in the view picker right click on the wall and select internal wall/platform settings. Under Visibility tick the box Use in floor plan and update the view picker by clicking it.
Method 2
In Build mode and either 2D or 3D view
- Click on the Building elements icon
- Double-click Platforms/frontwalls/pillars folder in the catalogues assistant tab. This will open a filecard on the left hand side of your screen.
- On this filecard you will find several types of pre-shaped walls.
- Drag and drop one into your plan. To help you place the wall, as you drag it within the room you will see the distances to and from other walls.
Note: You can also double click on it, once placed, to open the Move window, where you can adjust the position of it. - If you want to change the pre-defined size right-click it and select Change sizes. Click OK once changes have been made.
