The Free draw platform tool allows you to create a very specific platform shape which can be adapted to its surroundings.
Note: A simpler method is placing a pre-defined platform shape using drag & drop. More information can be found here.
As you are drawing by placing points in the plan, it is advised to select the 2D view tab before beginning.
- Click Build in the Menu bar.
- Select Free draw platform in the Tool bar.
- In the assistant window, there are several options of free drawing. Some have a snapping point assist to ensure you place the point exactly where it needs to be, whereas another places per 10mm with no snapping point.
For example, the Grid option which limits placement per 10mm, is suitable for free drawing where you require a shape to maintain 90° angles. The Reference point option allows you to draw flush with other objects in the room.
Example 1: Drawing a platform with Grid
- Click the Grid icon in the Assistant window:
- Click on the floor of the plan to place your points. The Grid function provides a large cross-hair and moves in increments of 10mm.
- Once the points are placed you can click Finished in the Assistant window. Clicking this will automatically complete the shape as shown above.
- Use the slider to choose the platform height/distance, or enter the exact number in the boxes at the top and click OK.
Example 2: Drawing a platform with Reference point
- Click the Reference point icon in the Assistant window:
Moving the cursor over items in the plan will cause them to be highlighted in blue. Choose the object you want to be the starting reference point by clicking the object once. - The objects will have a number of points you will be able to select. A red square will appear when you hover over them. Click the most suitable, and a red cross will signify the chosen point.
- Repeat the process as shown above. Remember to click the object to confirm the object is the reference, and then click again to place the point.
Note: If using more than one reference point on the same object, click the object again after the new point is selected. - Once complete click Finished in the Assistant window.
