To create distinct designs with tiling, you can use the Create tile area function. It offers four different ways to define an area for tiling. This function is available in 2D and 3D. To make the function easier to use, make sure that there is a good view of the desired area.
On the Tiles tab,
- Select Create tile area
to open the Create tile area window.
- Drag the desired tile for the area from a file card or catalogue into this window.
- Left-click on the wall on which the area is to be created.
Once the wall is selected there are four different ways to create a tiled area: Snap points, Contour section, Apply contour and Apply face. All these options can be found on the View tab on the right of the screen.
Note: All options except for the Snap points require an object or shape for the system to trace to create the area. Useful objects could be an interior wall/platform or a shape from the Model file card in the Building elements.
Option 1: Snap points
- Click to define points of the shape required.
- Click Finish to see your completed tile area.
Note: you do not need to draw in the last side/edge of the shape, click Finish to complete the shape automatically.
Note: For more information on snap points, see How to use the snap point tool.
Option 2: Contour Section
When using this tool Innoplus will help position Snap points to the edges of shapes and objects.
- Hover over the outlines of the shape or object.
- Click on the highlighted line.
- Repeat and follow along the outline of the desired shape.
- Click Finish to see your completed tile area.
For example, a model or shaped platform can be used to trace along to create the tile area.
Option 3: Apply contour
This will create a tile area in the shape of an object or shape in one step.
- Hover over a surface of an object to highlight the outer contour.
- Click to create the shape of the tiled area.
- Click Finish to see your completed tile area.
Option 4: Apply face
By placing a platform/internal wall or model shape on a surface, it is possible to use Apply face to copy the surface shape as a tile area. For example, two interior walls can be placed in a corner to define the area for a shower.
Note: Make sure to select the wall behind the interior walls when starting the design process.
- Hover over the shape to be traced.
- Click to create tiles behind the traced object.
- Remove the object to reveal the tile area behind it.
- Click Finish to see your completed tile area.
